Record Number of Volunteers Give Back to Their Communities for CPA Day of Service

Making a difference in their local communities was the main mission for accounting and financial professionals who participated in The Illinois CPA Society’s 9th annual CPA Day of Service on Friday, September 28th. A record total of 1,474 volunteers teamed up at events around the state to help with community gardening, packaging food for families in need, collecting books and learning materials for children and a host of other activities.

“Accounting and financial professionals are known for their expertise and the good work they do every day to help individuals, families and businesses achieve success.” said Todd Shapiro, President and CEO of the Illinois CPA Society. “Our annual CPA Day of Service keeps getting bigger, with volunteers expanding their supportive nature even more by giving back in a variety of hands-on ways to the communities where they live and work.”

Among the many organizations visited by CPA Day of Service volunteers this year included Alexian Brothers Women and Children’s Hospital in Hoffman Estates, Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Gurnee, Twice as Nice Mother & Child Diaper Bank in Gurnee, Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg, Little City in Palatine and Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff.
